This piece was a portrait of myself done in pencil and was one of the quality pieces. I have not finished it yet. I will go back in and make darker values, darkening the hair and adding some value into the shirt. I may also add some to the face. Hopefully once I darken things it will look more real. I like how this piece turned out and think that once I finish it will turn out really well.
This piece was done in pen and ink using the stippling technique. This is was part of my quality pieces. This piece was one that took the longest to complete. I still need to go back in and add more values. Making it darker under the tusk and making the back legs darker. It was difficult getting the shape of the elephant the way it should be and then also trying to make all the dots look a certain way. I'm not completely satisfied with the way the legs look, but hopefully after I go back in a make some changes it will look better.
For one of my mini concentrations I decided to do things along with nature and insects. This is a piece done in chalk pastels and little colored pencil. I like this piece, but it is not my favorite. I want the petals to have more value and look real with the right kind of texture. I don't feel like they have any texture right now making it look like a fake flower. Hopefully once I go back and fix that as well it will help to make the piece look more real. I like the values that I put in the lady bug. I do need to go back in and add a shadow under him but other than that I like the way that he turned out.
This was another one of the concentration pieces. The butterfly was done in mostly colored pencils and the background was done in chalk pastels. I really liked the outcome of this piece. I started this piece drawing the butterfly in pencil and then I did the background. The background is supposed to be like green flowers and petals. I then went in and did the butterfly in colored pencils and added a little chalk into the details. I did this piece like I did my bumble bee in art 2. I am satisfied with how this turned out.
This piece was for the multimedia project. I did the dog in chalk pastels, the sky in water color, and the grass in acrylic. This was part of my quality pieces as well. I like how this looks, but I do need to go back in and add some more texture in the hair and grass as well. I will also add a shadow and hopefully that will help to make him pop as well.
