For my second concentration piece, I drew my cousin Jessica. I like this picture of her because it expresses her personality along with facial similarities to my sister and I. From my first piece I knew what I was doing with her skin for the most part. She had more value under her neck and needed darker shading. The hair was the last thing that I did because that is the most challenging part to me. I am pleased with how it turned out with the highlights. The shading on her neck was a challenge because it was darker than everything else. I still plan to go back and add some different values there. Along with some in her hair. I think the contrast between her light shading and the dark backpack strap improves this piece. I plan to add value to her shirt, arms, and shoulders as well. One challenge I had was with the left eye (when you're looking at the piece.) From the photograph you couldn't see any detail, but I felt like since I zoomed in on the photo that I should show detail. I talked to some of my peers and we agreed to not show detail and I like the way that it turned out. I also like how dark the eyes are, I think it helps compliment the backpack. I really like how this piece turned out and I'm excited to see how the rest of these pieces do as well. I plan to go and fix the value details and I will post another picture of the final when I am done!
