For my concentration, I am focusing on the facial expressions of my family members. I am planning to draw pictures of a variety of ages; from the youngest to my grandparents. I am very excited for this concentration. I started with my cousin Alex. I am actually very pleased with how this turned out. I still have a few things that I want to add and change to the piece. I want to work a little more on his shirt and make it look really realistic. I also need to work on the shadows and the value in his hair. This piece looks better in person to me, but my goal was to make each piece look as realistic as I could. I worked very hard on the skin, trying to make it look as 2D as I could. Value is something I will continue to work on and learn so that I can make these pieces even better as the year progresses. This was one of the most tedious pieces of art that I have, only because I wanted to make sure I got every little detail that I could. I don't really know how to do hair, so I may practice some and then come back and fix his. I also want to make the strokes in his shirt a lot neater which I plan to do as well. I honestly am happy with how this turned out, and am excited to do more and see how all my concentration pieces turn out!!
