To me, pixilation animation is my favorite type of stop motion. One of my favorite videos was Her Morning Elegance by Yuval and Merav Nathan. This type of animation is done with real people instead of clay or paper figures. One piece that they also did was with sand at the beach. It was really depressing but I thought the way that they moved the sand figures was really cool. Yuval and Merav Nathan are from Tel-Aviv, Israel. They said that they like using a variety of materials to create their pieces. They use story board sketches for the basis of their videos. They were selected by Saatchi and Saatchi’s new directors showcase in 2009. Since then, they have been recognized in stop-motion videos for rhythmic music videos. In every work they invent their pieces from scratch. These two people are husband and wife and they came from different fields of creation, coming together creating a unique style. They won a Grammy nomination with the music video “Her Morning Elegance,” I like their pieces because they use real humans in a bunch of them, and even though the video is stop motion, it still looks like it’s a regular video. I think they do a very well job of getting it to look realistic the way that they do. Even for the video of the sand with the turtles. For the first couple of minutes, I thought it was a real turtle just covered in sand. They do a great job presenting their videos the way they do, and that is why they stand out to me.
