To me, pixilation animation is my favorite type of stop motion. One of my favorite videos was Her Morning Elegance by Yuval and Merav Nathan. This type of animation is done with real people instead of clay or paper figures. One piece that they also did was with sand at the beach. It was really depressing but I thought the way that they moved the sand figures was really cool. Yuval and Merav Nathan are from Tel-Aviv, Israel. They said that they like using a variety of materials to create their pieces. They use story board sketches for the basis of their videos. They were selected by Saatchi and Saatchi’s new directors showcase in 2009. Since then, they have been recognized in stop-motion videos for rhythmic music videos. In every work they invent their pieces from scratch. These two people are husband and wife and they came from different fields of creation, coming together creating a unique style. They won a Grammy nomination with the music video “Her Morning Elegance,” I like their pieces because they use real humans in a bunch of them, and even though the video is stop motion, it still looks like it’s a regular video. I think they do a very well job of getting it to look realistic the way that they do. Even for the video of the sand with the turtles. For the first couple of minutes, I thought it was a real turtle just covered in sand. They do a great job presenting their videos the way they do, and that is why they stand out to me.
Sammie and I worked on this project together. We used colored pencils to make it look like a zipper. We used the pencil sharpener to look look like the actual zipper unzipping all of the pencils. Then at the end it says "by sam and hb" because it would have taken too long to write out our entire names.
For my social issue poster, I focused on the homeless and starving children in Liberia. I feel that this is an issue that people need to be more concerned about. No child should have to go through starvation or being without a family. Everyone deserves to grow up and be loved by their family. I strongly feel that people should be focusing on not only these children in Liberia, but children everywhere. Building homes or orphanages for them, or donating food and water could make a huge difference in their lives.
Creating this poster wasn't that difficult. I liked the colors orange and white and I decided to make that the focus of my poster. I then researched a picture of children in Liberia. I then used a stamp for the background and put an effect on the top half of this poster. On the bottom I typed in "One Life" and "Liberia." I didn't have very many issues creating this. The only problem I had was getting the word "Liberia" to be closer to the other words. I ended up making two textboxes. Over all I enjoyed this project, and feel that it was good to get students attentions on the important things of this world. This cinemagraph was the human action. Sam and I sat on the railing near the football field and I swung my legs while she kept hers still. I didn't have very many problems with this one, but I do with the legs wouldn't glitch at the end of each rotation, so that is something I would fix if I was to do it again.
This cinemagraph was my project for the cinemagraph of an object. I have always wanted to take a picture blowing sparkles or flower petals, so I decided to make a cinemagraph with sparkles. At first I wanted to do it from straight on, with my face facing the camera, but it did not work that way when I went to edit the picture so I had to do the side view one. To do this project, I went outside with a bottle of sparkles. I found the place that I wanted to take the video at and I found a place that my phone could rest so that it would not move. The phone not moving was a very important factor with creating cinemagraphs.
The first problem I had with this cinemagraph was doing the video from straight on, it would not work right. Then when I started this one from the side, I had a problem with my fingers. My hand kept moving with the sparkles so I ended up having to crop out my hand and a bunch of the sparkles. If I were to do this project again I would have tried to keep my hands still and my body as well. Overall I think it would have mad this cinemagraph look better. I really enjoyed this project and I liked the results of both. For this project we were to make a "trippy" portrait of ourselves. I started by making a background that was splatter painted. I then took a solid colored brush and shaded over the entire layer. I used a big stamp in the center on top of the color as well as some lines behind my body. I put an effect on the picture of me to make it look a little more interesting. Then on top of all that I put some stamps that look like shining stars. I put a few small ones and then a lot of little ones.
I enjoyed this project. I thought it was fun being able to download new stamps and paint brushes. I also enjoyed being able to play around on photoshop, figuring out how to do everything. I didn't have and difficulties except with downloading the brushes. Sometimes I couldn't find them. If I were to do this again I don't think I would change much. I like the way it turned out. |
