For Teens Inspired, I was inspired by the "Veiled Flowers" painting by Hobson Pittman. This painting is in the North Carolina Art Museum. His piece was done with oil paint and he was from American culture. This piece really inspired me because basically any type of flower to me is pretty. I have always seen so many paintings and drawings of flowers and have always wanted to do my own. I decided to do this piece in water color with a touch of pen and ink. The pen and ink help make the piece look finished and fix any jagged edges. I was very pleased with how this piece turned out and want to do more flowers because of this piece. Not only was I inspired by his flowers but I was also inspired by his color scheme. I wanted my vase to complament the flowers so I added a touch of blue to the flowers to help. Below I have attached his piece.

Our group collaborated in many ways. We had a lot of different ideas but in the end we came up with a good one. At first we were going to spell random words with our bodies but it was always cold and we never went outside so we decided to switch our ideas. We Decided to make clay art. All ofthe other classes inspired us to make this art so we decided to make a meal. We made pasta, meatballs, a bowl, a piece of bread, and a fork. We are excited to see how they turn out.
I destroyed this piece of art by punching it so that it would rip in half. I wanted to destroy this piece of art because I did not like it, and it was probably my worst piece. It is a pear and I did not like the shadow I created so I decided to destroy it. When I punched it, it was painful and it took a few times to rip but with my strenght, I was able to do it.
For the topic smooth, I think of hands. This is my drawing of a hand, hoping to demonstrate the word smooth.
For this project, we were to use limitations. I am limiting myself from using any color. So I am solely using pencil. This is a picture of my from when I was young. I am working on a normal eight by eleven paper size and am trying to make it look as realistic as possible. I always have difficulties trying to make a self portrait look like the photo, but hopefully I will be able to do it. I also am worried about my teeth and mouth, but I think I will be able to get it. I have made some adjustments from this picture above, I made the nose bigger and the smile bigger. I like how the hair is looking so far though so hopefully it will turn out okay.
For our first project, I decided to do an observation picture of my sister. For one of the mini lessons, we practice drawing perspective of someone when a part of their body is closer to you from the rest. I enjoyed that mini lesson and decided to paint this. I went beyond my comfort zone and created a huge canvas to paint. I projected the picture on the board so that I could outline her body correctly and get the right proportions and then spent the next two or three weeks painting it. I still need to go back in and add more highlights in the hand and hair. I do like how this turned out though. It looks like her and that is what I wanted out of it. The background was a bit of a challenge. The first background color I had ended up looking more like the color of her skin tone then I wanted it to. So when I finished the entire piece, I went back and changed the color. I had to decide between around ten different background colors, but I decided on green because I thought it made the body pop more than the other colors. It makes the piece look bright but not too bright.
If I were to do it again, I would have probably made it smaller. It took me a long time to paint this, but I did like the outcome. But I am not sure where this is going to go now that it is so huge. I still have some things to fix on it, but hopefully I will get that done this week. I enjoyed doing this art project and am glad that I got out of my comfort zone and worked on a big surface area with acrylic paint. For our first project were working on figure drawings. For my project I am painting a picture of my sister in acrylic paint on a canvas. I'm also working with perspective, making her hand look just as her head. To start my project I painted the background a mix of pale yellow, brown, and purple. Then I put a picture of her on the projector and traiced her body so that she would proportional. I'm still in the process of painting and am excited to see how it turns out. |
