I titled this piece "Princess Diaries" because it is like the inside scoop on the princesses. This magazine focusing mostly on Belle, with little things from other princesses. I thought of different characters from the movie Beauty and The Beast and thought about what things I could say for each of them. I put an insight from Cinderella. I also decided to place a barcode at the bottom with the date. I got this from referencing other magazines. I am pleased with the outcome of this and I think it looks like a Magazine!
I chose to turn Leighton Meester into the princess Belle. I chose this because I thought that she looked like belle and in her show Gossip Girl she acted like a princess. There are times when I feel pressured by this society but most of the time I try to be myself and not care what other people do or think.
supermanFor the project objects make a whole, I decided to do the superman symbol. I didn't have a theme for the objects, I just used any objects that were red and yellow. The red ones took a lot longer for me to find because there were so many and I usually only duplicated it once or twice. I did not have many difficulties, the only problem I had was when I finished I was worried that I couldn't see the symbol, so I but the original symbol behind it and gave it a very low opacity.
For the first picture, I changed the color of my strawberry to pink so that I could practice using the color changes. And for my animated house, I decided to do a strawberry. My background was a snowy barn and I cropped out the barn and put in some more trees so that you couldn't tell. I then cropped in a strawberry. I didnt plan for the bottom half of the strawberry to go under the snow, but I like that it turned out that way. I then added a door, window, and some stepping stones. I liked how it looked but I wanted to add some snow to the top of it. I went online to find snow on a roof of a building and then cropped it onto my strawberry. I used a lot of skewing and warping in this photo for the snow on the strawberry, the door, and the window. I also laid out some snow on the stepping stones. I really like how this piece turned out.
I never made a storyboard This project was our stop motion project. It took me a while to come up with an idea but I was happy with how it looked at the end. I used sweedish fish and moved them around to make it look like they were dancing. I still want to add music to it, so I may do that when I get a chance. This was probably one of my least favorite projects, but that probably because I am a very impatient person and taking so many pictures was tedious for me. But I think they look really cool when they are finished. I really liked some of the other ones I saw, I do enjoy watching them. If I were to do this again, I might would do something with people, not just objects. Or even use bigger objects.
To me, pixilation animation is my favorite type of stop motion. One of my favorite videos was Her Morning Elegance by Yuval and Merav Nathan. This type of animation is done with real people instead of clay or paper figures. One piece that they also did was with sand at the beach. It was really depressing but I thought the way that they moved the sand figures was really cool. Yuval and Merav Nathan are from Tel-Aviv, Israel. They said that they like using a variety of materials to create their pieces. They use story board sketches for the basis of their videos. They were selected by Saatchi and Saatchi’s new directors showcase in 2009. Since then, they have been recognized in stop-motion videos for rhythmic music videos. In every work they invent their pieces from scratch. These two people are husband and wife and they came from different fields of creation, coming together creating a unique style. They won a Grammy nomination with the music video “Her Morning Elegance,” I like their pieces because they use real humans in a bunch of them, and even though the video is stop motion, it still looks like it’s a regular video. I think they do a very well job of getting it to look realistic the way that they do. Even for the video of the sand with the turtles. For the first couple of minutes, I thought it was a real turtle just covered in sand. They do a great job presenting their videos the way they do, and that is why they stand out to me. |
