For this project, I chose the theme metallic. I wanted to use the scratch board so that you could see small details. I decided to do a peacock so you could see the small details of the small feathers and hair. I used an exacto blade to make these lines. I took my time to make each line look precise and I wanted it to look as realistic as possible. I really liked the end result of this project. This was a project that I looked forward to working on and I had fun doing it.
If I could do anything different, I would make the smaller, darker feathers more precise. They were difficult to do because the knife would sometimes make some brighter than others or some darker. I may have also spent more time working on the larger feathers, making those more precise. Some difficulties I had was when I would scratch, sometimes the black layer wouldn't come all the way off, and I would have to keep scratching. Another thing that was difficult for me was the larger feathers. I practiced a lot and couldn't get them to look the way that I wanted to, but I really liked the outcome of them on my final piece. Overall, I was pleased with how this came out and really liked using scratch board.
